Police

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has a contract with Bethel Township to have two deputies assigned to ensure a vigilant presence within the township. The two deputies are paid for through a levy that the residents of Bethel Township (excluding the Village of Donnelsville) passed.

Deputy Tyler Long

Deputy Tyler Long

Deputy Long attended and graduated the Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training at Clark State Community College in 2016. Deputy Long was sworn in as a peace officer for the village of Enon in February of 2017. Deputy Long served the village for close to two years before being sworn in as a Deputy Sheriff for the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Long served the first few years of his career in the jail before transitioning to a road patrol position in 2021. Since his time as a road patrol deputy, he also is part of the SOT team (Specialized Operations Team) member for Clark County. In March of 2023, Deputy Long took a new assignment in Bethel Twp.

Deputy James Ohlinger

Deputy James Ohlinger

Deputy Ohlinger was born and raised in Springfield, Ohio, and graduated from Shawnee High School and the Clark County CTC in 2020. He later graduated from the Sinclair Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy in 2022 and began his law enforcement career in 2023. In March 2025, Deputy Ohlinger joined the Clark County Sheriff's Office, where he served in the Jail Division before transferring to the Road Patrol Division in 2026. In June of 2026, he transferred to Bethel Township. 

As a resident of Bethel Township, he takes great pride in serving and protecting the community he calls home. Deputy Ohlinger is committed to being proactive in his duties, building strong relationships with community members, and providing professional, community-oriented law enforcement services. His dedication to public safety and proactive policing reflects his commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the residents he serves.
